Here are some notes on Tunica from RGB:

First visit to Tunica Casino's coming up in early June. Anyone have first hand knowledge of where (or where not) to stay?

Thanks,

Dave

Most of the hotels there are pretty new, so there all decent. The only place I recommend not going is Bally's - I had a run in w/a pitboss there once and it made my whole stay seem horrible.

I haven't been there for 3 months or so, but Fitzgerald's casino always seems to have a decent BJ game. Single and double deck with decent enough penetration in the 2 deck game to be worth a shot. No trouble w/heat in 1-5 spread either.

If you count cards, don't even think of playing the single deck game at the grand casino. Those guys have some of the worst penetration and rules of any place i've seen. The place is huge and beautiful but I'd rather have the better games.

Hope this helps..... Larry

We really like the Goldstrike. It's new, nice, the casino is decent, and comps are better than average (I've heard of people being comped rooms _just for buying in_ for $1000--before playing a nickel).

Also, a lot of people think the Horsehoe in Tunica has the best blackjack, and the horsehoe is a 60-second walk from the Goldstrike. All the casinos in Tunica are packed on weekends and the whole place normally fills up, so make reservations well in advance. If you're going on weekdays, rooms will be dirt cheap...

The Memphis airport is about a half-hour from Tunica, and there is certainly nothing closer. There is SD around -- I've seen it at GoldStrike, Horseshoe, Fitzgeralds & Hollywood. I've noticed at bj21 everyone really prefers the horseshoe in Tunica, but I haven't played there.

We're going to the Beale Street festival this weekend; staying in Tunica but driving to Memphis for the shows. It only takes about 30-40 mins to drive.
