MY BJ play seemd to have its mistakes. At times I would forget the count. I think it was cause I was tired. I always felt tired when I sat at the tables. At times I felt myself guessing at the count cause the dealer would turn the cards over and I wasn't paying attention. But you can almost guess what they are holding when you see the hit card or if they do not take a hit. |
The conditions of BJ play were good except the hit on soft 17 at IP. Other then that you could split upto four times. (I actually saw this happen. This guy got four 9's in a row. he split them all and tied one and lost the other three. One being a double down as he pulled a two to get an eleven then doubled it and pulled a 4.) I also watched the dealers continually have a face card showing. I was behind back counting and noticed this. At this point I went to a different table. Same damn thing. I couldn't beleve it. I thought something was wrong but I knew that it was just a down swing and the cards would come around. they sure did. I back counted into this one game. I played about 10 hands. The table was primarily full. I think 5 players at this time. I watched the count go up and down. My bet range from $5 - $10. I won $30 and decided to leave as the dealer was hot. A little while later I walked by and the same people were still at the table plus two more to make it a full table. The people there had stacks of money in front of them. I think I missed the swing. Of course they could have cashed in money but I think they were ahead cause as I was playing with them they were only cashing in $20 at a time. I guess I should have stay. But was happy with the +$30 anyway. |
One other thing about the IP, If you are there after 11 pm and are hungry. Visit the Teahouse. They have a special from 11 pm to 5am. The two I will note are the NY strip, 3 eggs, hashbrowns, and toast for 4.95 and a Giant (I mean Giant) ham and 3 eggs, hashbrowns, and toat for $4.75. I thought it was damn good. I filled the tummy and went to bed on two nights at about 1:00 am. They did overcook my NY on one occasion. But still thought it was worth it. |
I did spend one night down on fremont street. Checked on all the BJ games in every casino. I even ventured down to the El Cortez. I must say that it was a little scary. If you venture a block off of the Fremont street area.. watch out... I saw some shaddy people down there. I didn't stay long enough at the El Cortex to investigate the game. Though I did notice low table limits but all the tables had card shufflers. Thus they did have a 10 cent roulette game going on. I can still smell the odor around that table. It was about 10 males shoulder to shoulder strategically placeing their chips and slamming their beers. Thus looking like they hadn't showered in a week or two. |
Binions had a lot of double deck games at $5. The tables were empty too. I didn't get to play nor did I investigate the penetration. Reason was by the time I hit all the casinos, I was tired. And I was looking for lower limit game. I was hopeing to find a $2 game but I only found it at the El Cortez and feared for my life down there. |
The golden nugget only had a few DD games. I didn't see any single deck. The DD were $10 limits. |
The LV Club had DD at $5 and up. Looked like a pretty decent game. |
My whole objective was to find a low limit game. When this fell through I was tired and exhausted from walking around for about 3 hours. |
I did go in the golden gate and play some single deck. By the way this was the very last casino I was going in. I stumbled upon a single deck $3 min. So I sat down with two others. The dealer was asian and was dealing into the deck. Probably 70 - 75 percent. I was betting $3-$10 per hand. The flow was messed up by one of the lady's who was always fiddleing around with her damn money and not paying attention to the game. We always had to wait on her and she didn't get the rules of a BJ game with the cards down. She was flipping and using two hands, on and on with the dealer.. Who was finally getting pissed. Well, guess what... They pulled her and put this other oriental in. And she shuffled up after every hand. At this time there was about 5 people at the table. I was down $17 dollars and walked away. I figured I would just loose more at that rate. I would have waited for the original dealer to come back, but I was way to tired and suffered the loss. I don't think they were targeting me for counting. I hardly noticed the pit boss and felt my bet spread was justifiable. the other people were mostly flat betting. |
I think the fremont street area is great. You can bounce from one casino to the next in the matter of seconds. Knowing the casinos BJ game beforehand would be of great help. Or just ask when you sit down. But if you want to wong in on games you have to know the rules beforehand. |
Overall, I think my first adventure as a counter was of valuable experience. I have only been learning the past 6 weeks. I used the KO method and it seemed to work. I can't recall how many time I took insurnce on a dealers Ace and won. It was amazing at how I could predict it. Though I did lose quite a few when I didn't bet because the count was to low. A minus 8 and the dealer got a BJ and thus the count at the table dropped an amazing minus 13. I got up at that point. (This was the table mentioned above where I came back and the same people were there with stacks of money in front of them...) |
I also know the Hi-Opt method. they say this is good for the single deck. Since I couldn't find a decent SD game. I opted for the DD which is plentiful in vegas... |
Well, that is all I can remember from memory. I really didn't get to spend the quality of time I would of liked at the tables. Though I just didn't have the bankroll either. Next time I will have couple grand and can spread atleast 1-5 and not worry about the risk of ruin.... |
