Mont Parnes is located about 20 kilometers
from Athens and overlooks the city.It opens
at 7:00 pm and the charge is 2000 GDR(aprox.
$7.00 US).I stayed at the hotel and they
waived my entrance fee but required me to
show my passport. The complex operates a tram
that carries people from the basin and starts operating also at 7:00 pm.It takes
about 15 minutes to make it to the casino
which provides 15 minute window to play
blackjack without other players.After this
when the crowd make it up from the tram, the
condition are horrible.Only two tables are
open intially and are packed to capacity.

For the best game in Greece one must travel
500 kilometers to the Regency Casino in
Thessaloniki. This casino has 31 tables of
six deck and has has limit of 250,000 GDR
or about $800.00 US as of 8/97.The penetration is very good with 1 1/2 decks
cut off. Many tables had only one or two
players which should be a extra bonus to
the proficient player.The Regency Casino
is by far the best casino to play blackjack.

Casino Porto Carras comes in a close second
to the Regency and is located on the middle
peninsula(about two hours drive from
Thessaloniki) southeast. This casino is located inside of the magnificent Sithonia
Hotel. They only have 12 tables of six deck
but offer the highest limit in Greece at
300,000 GDR or about $1000 US.The penetration was about 1 1/2 decks but
business was slow in the casino, probably
due to the newly opened Regency. The admission fee was a steep 5000 GDR or about
$16.00 US.

The Club Hotel Casino in Loutraki is located
one hour out of Athens by the Corinth. This
place is the burn joint of Greece with its
100,000 GDR limit and the poor penetration
of 3 1/2 to four decks of its six deck games. The entrance fee is 2,000 GDR and your
picture is required to be taken along with
your passport photo. All the casinos in Greece(except Mont Parnes)give you a
membership card that is swiped into the
computer before entry.The monitor with
display your pictures along with the data
submitted during membership.

Greece is a beautiful country to visit even
without the casinos. YASOU !
