the overriding assignment of surveillance is to "protect the assets of the corporation".

 

as to "cost", it seems that many surveillance agents are paid in the $10/hour range, actually costing the house less than a culinary union (benefit pkg !) housekeeping employee.

 

true that the greatest risk to loss through cheating/theft is via employees. otoh, any pitstiff worth his/her salt, will call in surveillance whenever there's a significant winner on any game and something "jdlr". remember that all moves can be seen in slo-mo, maybe not in real time. insignificant wins are of less concern and similarly are worthless to the cheater compared to the risk of imprisonment.
