The wild growth of the gaming industry; ************************************** Never has anything enjoyed the phenomenal growth of the gaming industry, with new Casinos growing at a rate so rapid it is virtually impossible to keep up. Gaming technology is enjoying no less an explosive growth. A recent trip to Las Vegas, after a 16 month absence, just blew me away. Sinatras theme song NY NY became a Casino reality along with Monte Carlo, and the crowds just keep coming. Down with the old up with the new ********************************* In the past four years Vegas has witnessed the demise of many Casinos like the Dunes, the Sands and the Marina to mention a few. All of them quickly replaced with huge gambling palaces with thousands of rooms and gigantic Casinos. Three new Casinos are being built as we write, one to replace the Dunes, one for the Sands and a new one with a Parissiene theme just down the strip from ballys'. Ballys MGM Shuttle ****************** Of course the shuttle monorail from Bally's to MGM Grand has now been running for close to two years, seems like yesterday it was in the planning stages. Now a neat streamlined train carrying passengers back and forth every few minutes is old news. For those of you who have not been to Vegas in a few years, your in for a real surprise. New machines new technology new graphics. ***************************************** On my last trip to Lake Tahoe and Las vegas I saw for the first time the new Wheel of fortune machines, quite exciting. Patterned after the real game, when the correct symbol appears on the third reel and on the middle line the player is eligible to spin the "Wheel of fortune" and depending on where the wheel stops, wins the prize indicated by the wheel. The Imperial Palace features some new machines with "knockout" graphics. Any one of four games can be chosen by touching the screen. My favourite was fort knox. When all the right conditions are met the combination to the safe at Fort Knox unlocks the safe and coins (graphics) cascade into the "graphic" hopper and apprear as credits you can cash in or play. Virtual Casinos the latest craze ******************************** I get lots a Email asking about the on line Casinos. The questions are almost always on the honesty of On line casinos. Are they fair, do they pay off, how will I get my money, in short are they rigged? My answer is alwyas the same. Like land casinos in Vegas or anywhere else, they have more to lose than they have to gain by being rigged. I believe for the most part the games are as random as technology will allow, that is where randomness is the essence of the game such as Roulette and Black jack. The virtual slots are set similar to any slot machine found in Vegas, Reno, Tahoe or anywhere elese in the country. As most know, slots are set to pay back, at least the legal minimum, and up to anything over the legal minimum determined by the Casino. Available technology can provide similar results. Here comes the commercial; Some on-line Casinos featured on my gambling site at ; http://www.netcore.ca/~billk/vegas_casino.html Starluck Casino, Casino-on-net, Royal Magic Casino and ElGordo lottery. Patronize the above casinos and lotteries. The unforgiving internet grapevine. *********************************** Virtual Casinos engaging in rigged gaming would soon be found out and hounded out of the business. I can't imagine a worse fate, as a Virtual casino operator, than being exposed as a fraud on the Internet. Perhaps I'm being naive, but thats my take. I've kept this letter purposely short so as not to lose your interest too soon. If you have enjoyed this letter my Email address is I'd like to hear your comments and things you would like to read about in future issues. Cheers Bill Konrad (Interex NA)
