Suggestion -Count Backwards

Posted by MathProf on 22 February 1998, at 12:53 p.m., in response to Re: For Olaf & Ken: A K-O Question, posted by Pete Moss on 20 February 1998, at 10:45 p.m.

This is a very interesting idea to set the IRC so that the Pivot is 0, and then just use standard True Count Methods. I think, if I were to ever to swicth to KO (or any other unbalanced count) I would consider doing it that way.

However, some people have a bit more trouble couting negative numbers, which you will do most of the time in your system. So my suggestion is to invert the count:

For KO... Start with an IRC of 4 times number of decks (24 in 6 decks). Count 2-7 as -1, A-10 as +1. When the count gets down to 0, you are at the pivot. Divide the RC by the number of decks remaining to get a "True Count".

I realize that is the oppossite of ordianry COunting methods. But I think it is slightly easier to learn and use ...
