You really should be able to count down a deck in less than 30 seconds if you want to play with ease in a casino. I don't know how you are doing it, but here's the way I count down a deck. I put the cards in my left hand, face up. I riffle through the deck with my right hand, removing one card at a time, counting each card as I go. The reason I have described this method is that I have found that some folks turn the cards face down and go through the extra movements of turning each card over as they count down the deck. If that is what you are doing, it may be the reason for the slow times you are recording. If you are doing it the way I described, keep practicing. You will get it eventually.

As far as which IRC is best, it's a matter of individual preference. I start all of my IRC's a zero, regardless of the number of decks and adjust my Key Count and Pivot Point accordingly. If starting at an IRC of eight in a six deck game works for you, then go for it!
