What I said was that the playing efficiency of K-O in running count mode is rather low, so if you want to go beyong the K-O preferred you should use true count conversion rather than the running count indices given in the appendix. This is because unlike the Preferred indices, many of these plays are far from the pivot point. There are only about half a dozen additional indices worth learning without using the true count, such as soft 18 vs. Ace when the dealer stands on soft 17(that would be a B play).
