My New Count Systems
Posted by John Auston on 10 March 2000, at 6:04 p.m.
Just got around to reading the count systems thread below, and must admit that I find the whole thing a little silly and ego-based.
The K-O is the most recent, true original count, IMO, and it rightly takes it place along with the old "masters" (hi-lo, halves, rpc, red-7, unzii, etc).
A case could also be made for the count I "discovered" but did not pursue, and that became the brh-1.
Other than that, most all these new others (except the new side count ones) are hair-splitting derivitives, and their names should contain a reference to the counts they are derived from, not the (so called) author's new names.
Let me demonstrate how ridiculous this all can easily become.
I hereby create and claim copyright to the following new counts:
The JohnAuston-1: 2-7's are +1, 10-A are -1, red 8's are +1 and black 8's are -1. (performs everybit as well as K-O)
The JohnAuston-2: 2 & 7's are +1, 3,4,5,6 are +2, 10-A are -2, red 8's are +1 and black 8's are -1. (Performs every bit as well as RPC)
The JohnAuston-3: 2 & 7's are +1, 3,4,,6 are +2, 5's are +5, 10-A are -2, 9's are -1, red 8's are +1 and black 8's are -1. (performs every bit as well as halves)
The JohnAuston-3U: 2 & 7's are +1, 3,4,,6 are +2, 5's are +5, 10-A are -2, red 8's are +1 and black 8's are -1. (performs evey bit as well as brh-1)
Etc, etc, etc.
