Pete, Do we use the same count?
Posted by limon on 22 September 1997, at 10:02 p.m., in response to Re: Which to do next?, posted by Pete Moss on 22 September 1997, at 7:39 p.m.
I use a primary count of 10's -1 and 3,4,5,6,7 +1. I use the primary count for all playing decisions except splitting 9's and 10's and doubling on 10 or less. I keep a secondary count of A -1 and 2 +1, I add this to the primary count for all betting decisions and the aformentioned playing decisions. I use a running count because it makes things so much easier and that was the way I was taught. A friend of mine "developed" this system 5+ years ago after getting the idea of two running counts out of and edition of BJ Forum. I had never played serious BJ (only poker) up until about 1 year ago when my friend convinced me his method was easy and good $$$ could be made. The method is fairly easy and I'm winning at the rate of 1 average bet an hour (about $30). You are the first person I've ever heard of who uses a count like mine so I have some questions (please help).
1) Why do you use your final count for playing and insurance decisions? It seems like the primary count is a stronger playing count (or have I been doing it backwards)
2) My indices were run 5+ years ago by a friend of mine who is smart but no genius, (I have no room to talk) but anyway I'm concerned that my playing decisions aren't as accurate as they could be. Do you by chance have an updated list of SBA indices that I could compare mine to in order to see if I'm making any mistakes. I'm especially concerned with which decisions I use the primary count for and which I use the final count for.
3) Is my (our) system as strong as my friend says it is? Do you have any #'s (time to double bank) that shows it is as strong as AO2 or APC?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
