Trip Report

Well, I had been playing against my computer for a few months doing basic strategy and altering my bet based on counting (Hi Opt1).
So my wife and I had occcasion to visit Vegas last weekend, and I felt it time to try my luck. I had planned to play with basic strategy but maybe not count, since I wasn't too sure I was going to be able to do it well the first time.
I ended up dropping about 200$ playing 5$ tables the first night, flat betting. Mostly at the Hilton Flamingo on the strip. I was playing properly, but just getting poor cards.
The next morning we started out again, and my luck turned. I recovered half of my losses, then started feeling confident enough to count, and varied my bets based on count. This was going ok, but I was losing the count, and not sure of my accuracy (probably should have said no to that third Margarita). Then an idea hit me...why not let my wife play (she's got basic strategy pretty well down, and just asks me if not sure) and let me count. I was able to count perfectly, and subtley let her know how to bet. We cleaned up about 70 bucks in a few hands at a 5$ table. Apparently I was not too subtle, tho, since the pit boss made the dealer shuffle on us right in the middle of a kick ass deck!
Anyways...pleased with finally having drawn a little blood, we proceeded back to the Hilton to get our durned money back from them. Naturally, they promptly
took another 100$ in short order, and we left town licking minor wounds but with a pretty cheap weekend and a lot of fun.
