Is this game beatable?
Posted by Ludvig Mortberg on 4 January 1998, at 6:04 p.m.
In Sweden you can play BJ at restaurants and bars. The rules are:
no hole card
cards are dealt face up
dealer must stand on any 17
double down on any two cards
6 decks
split infinitlely
BJ pays 2:3
you can take insurance against dealers ace
if there is a push on 20, 21 player wins, on 17, 18, 19 dealer wins
cards are dealt from shoe and reshuffled after approx. 5 decks
betting spread is 1-6 (10 crowns, 20...60)
Now, I wonder: can I beat this game with card counting? Is the betting
spread to small? What basic strategy and modified strategy should I
use? What counting system?
If it's not too much work can someone run a simulation?
Thanks a lot if you can answer these questions!
PS I know that I should save time, money and energy for Vegas, but
this "casino" is on my doorstep, and I have always wondered if it's
beatable.
