Cyclops, was this just one dealer or all the dealers? The casino might of been trying to max. their hands per hour by deeper pen.. Alot of the corp. monkey suits running the pits are well educated in casino management but not 'advantage' play of any type. These CSM's know that increasing the hands per hour increases the casino's bottom line but the only options they have are; Quicker shuffles, faster dealers (not so fast that their running over players, P.R. is one of the most valued aspects) and deeper pin.. Yet they don't know the best ways & the best 'times' of using these ploys to protect the casino from 'advantage' play.
I once say a CSM tell a dealer to shuffle the cards 5 times and cut the shoe in half at the game "Casino War", just because someone was winning most of the checks in the rack. This casino already had a 3 time plus lace (4 time shuffle) so they didn't have to worry about coup players and cutting the deck in half at "Casino War"?
(I guess he was scared some one might be counting.)
When I asked him why he did this he told me; "When the GM reviews the tape in the morning and asks what I did to prevent it, I can say, I had the dealer shuffle 5 times and cut the deck in half". This guy was most likely not educated on ether side of the table (juice job).
But anyway was that just one dealer or all the dealers giving you that pen.?
