Cyclops...
Posted by BigD on 21 July 1999, at 2:06 p.m., in response to Sorry.., posted by Cyclops (the know-it-all) on 21 July 1999, at 12:49 p.m.
my "know-it-all" retort was actually directed to gehrig, and perhaps I even took it wrong, BUT I don't seem to be able to understand WHY a progressive system (IN A SINGLE DECK game) can't work as long as one is in a neutral count.
Where I have found this system is very helpful, is when the cards are "choppy" (win one/lose one). In this system, you can lose every other hand and still win! As a matter of fact, on my last trip, I was playing head to head at a green table, and after a 15 to 20 minute period of "choppy cards", the dealer was apologizing about our not being able to "get anything going." Then I showed him my chips, and I was about $150 up. That is a perfect example of why I like this system.
Until someone can convince us differently, my husband, daughter, and sister (they all make several trips to Vegas also) and I will continue to use this 2-1-2 system until we are convinced of something better (for our level of play anyway). NONE of us has ever "lost our ass" by playing this system, but have had some excellent wins. None of them are counters, but they have played enough to be able to "see" a lack of tens after the first round in single deck (and adjust bet accordingly). If you are at a full table in SD, you only have to "look" every other hand.
We set a goal of RED table: $100 Stake to $500 (+400 win) or GREEN table $300 stake to $2000 ($1700 win). Obviously this does not always happen, but happens enough to keep me happy and trying. Keeping in mind, I NEVER leave the table without some of my original stake (at least 40%). (Can't stand the feeling of TOTAL LOSER.)
I have customized all these plays to my level of knowledge, style, bankroll, personal goals, etc. But would still like to improve with any new help. As I said I try to learn and practice something new each trip.
Also still looking for suggestions on tournament blackjack play...HOW, WHEN, WHERE?? I understand there is a small time daily tourney at Lady Luck. (Little buy-in, little prize $$) but thought it might be a good place to learn. Anyone know about it or any other?
