Re: Blackjack the "Smart" Way

Posted by T-Hopper on 24 July 1999, at 11:36 a.m., in response to Re: Blackjack the "Smart" Way, posted by Richard Harvey on 23 July 1999, at 2:34 p.m.

Perhaps you should learn how to behave on message boards. Look at how your very first post on here started:

There are many, many ways a dealer can affect your game. It's detailed in my book, Blackjack The Smart Way (www.blackjacktoday.com) and in my seminars (the next one is in Las Vegas, July 31).

That set off alarms in my mind and detracted from the actual content of your post which followed. The proper thing to do would have been to include the link in the bottom of your message without further comment.

Regarding face down cards, Bryce Carlson has a short paragraph on this in Blackjack for Blood. With his level two count, he suggests assuming the following:

player draws cards totaling 10-16 without busting: Assume his cards count as +2

player stands vs. 7-A: Assume his cards count as -2.

This works fairly well for close plays, if you are using his count and the other players play basic strategy.
