I have always (very respectfully) disagreed with the accepted idea that the best position for a counter is third base. The only time it would make a difference is on the rare occasion when a few more cards out of the deck will change a player's strategy. I really feel that we are talking about thousandths of a percentage advantage here. I hate third base, personally, because you seem to invite conversation and criticism from the table. For me, this distraction / pain-in-the-butt is not worth the trade-off. I prefer to sit anonamously in "center field" and not have some moron scream at me "you hit a SIXTEEN??!! You just cost the whole table!"
