In a shoe game you won`t really see the difference between places if the table is full but do a simulation with Wong`s Blackjack Count Analyser for a DD game and you will see an important difference in EV between first and third base. This is because opportunities to deviate from basic strategy are more important in pitch games than shoes. I suspect the better the penetration the bigger the difference for a near to full table.
