Good Penetration?

By reading all your fins posts, im learning that penetration is very important. A few questions please: 1) What is considerd GOOD penetration for 1,2,4,6,8 decks? 2)Im sure it's good practice to scop out the game before you sit down, while watching the shuffle, does where the dealer places the Cut Card indicate the penetration level? or do wait and see how far the dealer goes beyond the Cut Card to determine the penetration? 3) As a BS player (for now) do I need to still be concerned with the deck penetration?
