Is this VooDoo, or what?

In Las Vegas BJ Diary, Stuart Perry learns the hard way that he tends to lose when he's angry with another player.
I don't do well, regardless of the count, when I don't like the dealer. I learned long ago to step away when a new one steps up and the vibes aren't right.
Most of the early BJ books insisted that you should not play with players or dealers you don't like because you will lose.
Where's the math here? These things should make NO difference, but they do. Even basic strategy becomes a big loser when I'm uncomfortable.
...and why do I always seem to win when I'm near another player who is a distracting female with obvious intelligence and pert br*@sts!?! This happened again recently as I sat, (trying not to stare) looking at a beautiful SE Asian player named "Mik". I was practically hypnotized. Not even paying attention to the hands. I won 27 out of 31 hands!
