Re: Not what you asked

You asked if someone knew anyone who had turned 40K into a million with gambling. I responded that I knew some, and it is more than one or two by the way.
As for your other questions, I wouldn't recommend professional gambling to anyone as a career. It is not my career nor would I want it to be. I will say that the professional gamblers I do know are outstanding individuals who are not at all like the stereotype you might see in the movies or read about in books. I suspect most of them would be successful in any career they choose. They are intelligent, insightful people who have mastered a very difficult discipline indeed.
As for those of us who gamble as an avocation, I know many who make a decent buck on the side, who enjoy free all-expenses paid vacations, courtesy of the casinos, and who are bright, successful people in their own right. They include successful doctors, lawyers, engineers, college professors and members of other honored professions.
As far as numbers at large, I couldn't say. I think most of the people who frequent casinos are losing money, but that doesn't make them addicts or dysfunctional people. They are getting something of value in the exchange or they wouldn't keep coming back.
