I am a shoe player and have only limited experience playing single deck. Having said that... |
Many years ago Eddie Olsen told me he had developed (or was knowledgable of) such a technique but I never got the method out of him. His comment spurred me to do some analysis and study into the possibility but I could never figure out how to profitably exploit any real casino single deck shuffle. At the time I used John Imming UBE software to perform some real world shuffle studies on single deck and I also attempted to perform mappings of single deck shuffles on paper. The charts I created looked really neat but I couldn't find any way to exploit any specific real world shuffle -- except a very simple shuffle that you won't find in any casino. Olsen did indicate his technique only worked on a specific shuffle or shuffles -- obviously only in casinos who performed a fixed and routine shuffle such as maybe riffle, riffle, strip, riffle, cut. |
If tracking is possible it may only be possible if, for example, if all the aces were found bunched together in one deal. Then, a specific shuffle may distribute those aces in a predetermined manner -- possibly 3 aces in one half and 1 ace in the other half. Now, all you have to do is cut the 3 aces into play. If you can always cut at least 2 or 3 aces into play after each shuffle a method of this type would be worth learning. |
