Hi gehrig

In my opinion, those changes are usual in any kind of business. Some are in favor of the Player, others may not be. Do not overlook also the fact that you are talking about a huge and growing gambling industry that is in competion within its rank. It is almost inconceivable that nothing, if that is what you expected, would change in 38 years in any endeavor, business, population, tastes, fashions, etc. Do you agree?

My point was that the basic game of blackjack has little changed. I frankly much prefer today's BJ and the better controls instituted on the gambling industry as compared to the sixties and seventies when the mob bosses were in control behind the scenes. I hear that casino cheating the players was more prevalent then.

Having gambled in the sixties all over the world, I know how difficult and almost impossible was to win playing BJ. In some of the Casino Clubs in London, Yougoslavia and also in Beirut, there would be like 5 pit bosses and security guards watching you. One time in a London Club, they are very small clubs with like 3-4 BJ tables, and Roulette, I felt quite intimidated by the staff who were like 10 to 1 ratio over a handful of players. The casinos that I frequent have nothing but the best in staff and everything else even though the BJ games 1D&2D, double down is only on 10 & 11. I would not change them with the more advantageous games elsewhere (in cheaper surroundings and overall of lower standard in surroundings, environment and staff. All is a matter of choice my friend. In my opinion, how I feel and what kind of people I am dealing with is much more important to me then being able to double down on any first two cards. Feeling comfortable is the only way to go for me. You may feel otherwise. You may be a bargain hunter. If that makes you feel comfortable, then you are doing the right thing for yourself. It is only a matter of taste and choice. That kind of advantage is insignificant and of no value to me. "Digustibus e coloribus non disputandum". That means tastes and colors are not to be argued.

Have fun.

JJ
